Grey Horse Melanoma

Beauty's Story...

TX#206 ... Her post from the killpen in Texas started with HEAVY IN FOAL ... gorgeous mare, sweet and calm, gentle & easy to handle. That was all it took. We reached out for help fundraising, got her bailed from the lot, and within days she was headed for the farm in NC. The day she arrived, we had the vet meet her to ultrasound her, NOT in foal. The stresses of the auctions & killpens are more than we realize, so often these poor mares abort or deliver prematurely before they can be rescued. Our vet did find find a grey horse melanoma under her tail, but said its nothing to worry about at the moment. Most importantly, Beauty is safe, she is still in quarantine, but she is doing well, getting stronger, looking better day by day. She will be available soon, all she needs now is to find her special person and a loving forever home.

Additional Comments:

Away She Go**Grey OTTB Mare, 16hh,  13 yrs old, Adv. Beginner. Sweet, gentle, with a calm, quiet  stoic nature, this mare would be a great horse for someone new to  horses, or who needs a confidence building relationship with their  equine partner. Rescued in the 11th hour from a TX killpen, she was a  ranch horse, rides western, neckreins, has good whoa, good back. She was  also supposed to be heavily pregnant. By the time we bailed her and got  her transported to NC, where the first thing we did the day she arrived  was have the vet ultrasound her, she had apparently lost the foal along  the way due to the stresses of the killpen, or more likely had never  been in foal.   Regardless, she is a beautiful mare, and healthy despite needing some  TLC & groceries. the vet did find a small grey horse melanoma under  her tail, but that is nothing to worry about at the moment, and should  be easy to have treated by a vet as they are typically benign. On tight  clean legs, she is sound, and calm & kind. quarantine, then she is  30 days clean and ready to go! She has 11 days left of She is UTD on her  Coggins, but still needs her vaccines. Meet&greets, &  pre-purchase exams at adopter's expense, are welcome, as we strive for a  good match & "Right Fit". Adoption fee negotiable for the right  home. Adoption application, references, and contract required.
